The European Commission has developped Level(s), a foundational framework of common European indicators to measure the sustainable performance of buildings across their whole life cycle.
This framework is currently being tested and aims to create a ‘common European language’ for the whole value chain of the construction sector, to facilitate data gathering, fuel discussions and enhance action. This testing phase started in 2018, and Level(s) will be implemented in Spring 2020. The target is to achieve energy zero buildings by 2021.
A report presenting the conclusions of this testing phase was published this year. It includes a focus on some green building projects from different European countries, and how Level(s) impacted these projects.
