Located a few blocks from the centre of Brussels, the Chemiserie is a historic building dating from the early 20th century. It is located in the redeveloped neighbourhood of Osseghem in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. This former industrial factory has been refurbished into a modern and comfortable building that offers a totally different vision of the traditional urban habitat.
The Chemiserie has been upgraded to a very low energy building, with dual-flow ventilation, photovoltaic production and a unique, highly efficient heat generation system capable of supplying the entire site. Every effort has been made to reduce our occupants’ environmental footprint and make these 66 homes more pleasant to live in. This technological achievement was implemented through the use of advanced thermal, structural, and acoustic optimisation techniques in order to minimise the loads related to the building and the surrounding space. Sustainable mobility is a constant concern and there are 40 parking spaces available, some of which are equipped with electric charging stations. Bicycles also have an important place on the site where various shelters are provided (more than 120 spaces).
