This project focuses on developing 8.8 hectares located on the heights of Namur, at the “Plateau de Bellevue” site, with the aim of creating a neighborhood of the highest environmental and architectural quality.
The winning project, titled “Le Grenier de Bellevue,” stands out for its innovative and sustainable vision. It offers a new way of living, respectful of the environment, biodiversity, and self-sufficiency. By emphasizing active mobility, convivial shared spaces, and collective food management, this project is both an example of urban resilience and social diversity.
Le Grenier de Bellevue embodies an integrated approach to urban development, addressing three key objectives:
- Regenerating life: By valuing nature and encouraging residents to actively engage in their neighborhood, Le Grenier de Bellevue places great importance on providing an environment where children and families can thrive. Market gardening, green spaces, and biodiversity preservation initiatives are central to the project.
- Creating a citizen-driven alternative: New residents and locals from Jambes will come together around shared projects, strengthening social bonds and food autonomy. This initiative aims to foster a sense of belonging and encourage active citizen participation throughout the development and management of the neighborhood.
- Building a resilient neighborhood: Le Grenier de Bellevue seeks to be a model of energy efficiency without relying on fossil fuels and promotes inclusive practices in the use of spaces. Thanks to adaptable housing and innovative solutions for property ownership, the neighborhood will cater to the diverse needs of Namur families while preserving the environment.
A Shared Commitment to Sustainable Transformation:
Le Grenier de Bellevue provides a concrete response to today’s ecological and social transition challenges. By transforming consumption habits (mobility, food, energy), the project team aspires to drive lasting change for future generations, remaining true to their core values: humanity, the environment, and community living.
The City of Namur has selected the consortium EQUILIS, BPI Real Estate, and Wood Shapers with SWECO, Goffart Polomé architects, BAUCLUB architectures, B2Ai architects, 2Build Consulting, Strelia, and SKYFARMS as the winner of the Bellevue competition, a public contract in the form of a competitive dialogue launched in 2022.
