Homegrade is the reference point for lodging in the Brussels-Capital Region. It’s geared towards all households, tenants and owners who want to improve the quality of their lodging. The independent organisation is the product of the merger between Maison de l’Energie and the Centre Urbain in February 2017. It is a non-profit and all of its services are completely free.
Homegrade approaches lodging and its renovation comprehensively. It offers each household a cross-disciplinary and personalised strategy. The goal is to assist Brussels residents with practical, technical, administrative, financial and other questions and to encourage concrete choices which promote sustainable development. Homegrade pushes for changes in behaviours, habits and preconceptions regarding housing. It participates in improving the built environment and the quality of life of Brussels residents.
Its team is made up of experts from all of the fields related to lodging and the built environment: allowances, renovation, energy, heritage, city planning, acoustics, co-ownership, EPB, etc.
In addition to providing assistance to private individuals, Homegrade also provides information on its website, in its publications and during various events, including an annual lecture series.
Homegrade maintains a website for heritage architecture professions which lists active artisans: http://metiersdupatrimoine.brussels.
