The origins of the ETAU Architects firm date back to the 1960s. The team, consisting of two partners and 14 employees, is experienced in the design and management of major public projects of all types: healthcare, housing, offices, public facilities and urban planning. With the completion of projects for more than 4,000 nursing home beds and more than 240 supportive housing units, the firm is recognised for its expertise in both that sector and the hospital sector.
The architecture firm focused early on environmental issues. Its commitment has been rewarded with two project wins for the “Bâtiments exemplaires” (BATEX) call for projects from the IBGE: the “Rainbow” care facility, the first large building selected as part of the first call for projects in 2007, and the “Fondations Réunies” care facility, a pilot project with 129 beds solely reserved for persons suffering from dementia, awarded in 2013.
The firm also inaugurated the first passive nursing home in Belgium in 2012.
Today, ETAU is experimenting with wood construction in two major nursery projects.
ETAU’s approach aims to find the right balance between architectural quality, urban integration, functionality and technical efficiency, while also paying close and constant attention to planning and budget. Thanks to the size of our organisation, we are able to build a very strong personal relationship with project owners to meet their expectations and objectives.
