BC is BC architects and BC studies and BC materials. BC stands for Brussels Cooperation and refers to how BC grew and is anchored in the city and its people. We work through 3 legal entities that are registered in Belgium, namely: BC architecten bvba (firm of architects), BC studies vzw (non-profit organisation), BC materialen cv (material production cooperative).
BC is a hybrid practice that designs and undertakes “building actions”with a view to effecting systematic change in the construction sector. We strive for bio-regional, low-tech, circular, beautiful and inclusive design. We work with our minds and with our hands. We undertake activities such as community organisation, material production, contracting, education and prototyping. We strive to make a positive impact on people’s ideas and on the planet. We act on behalf of the generations that will come after us.
Our team was created between 2009 and 2012 and is currently made up of the 4 co-founders and 15 members of staff who work in Brussels on projects for continental Europe and Africa.

It has also taught at institutions including the Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development (ET), ETH Zürich (SW), University of Stuttgart (Ge) and the Technical University of Munich (GE).
