ÁRTER Architects, founded in 1990, is a multidisciplinary design firm based in Brussels. ÁRTER was reorganised around five departments (Architecture, Restoration, Town planning, Environment and Research) in 2008. It brings together architects, town planners, landscape architects, interior designers and art historians. Our multidisciplinary structure ensures an overall project approach which takes into account the changing urban landscape and our lifestyles while promoting our heritage.
The environment and sustainability play a key role in each of these areas. To guarantee that they are taken into account throughout the project life cycle, the firm has several specialists and certified BREEAM assessors in its Environment department. Our feasibility studies focus on passive building rather than low-energy construction. We take ecological materials that include health considerations for granted. We also take an intelligent approach to the design of special techniques. They include renewable energies to come as close to zero energy use as possible.
