assar climate design: Reinventing the approach to project design

In the face of today’s climate challenges, the need to adopt a responsible, sustainable and consistent approach to design is more urgent than ever.

Climate change, the scarcity of natural resources and the challenges of the circular economy are forcing a profound transformation in construction practices. At assar architects, we have chosen to rise to these challenges by being innovative, ambitious and balanced, basing our work on a clear vision: people, planet, profit.

assar climate design was born with this vision in mind, favouring a progressive, evolving and structured approach. More than just a tool, it’s a real framework that reflects our commitment to building a sustainable future without sacrificing architectural, technical and aesthetic excellence. By questioning established practices, this approach aims to meet the sector’s emerging challenges, while proving that it is possible to reconcile beauty with integrity.

assar climate design draws on the firm’s collective experience and proven expertise. We operate based on a clear visual system: three graphic “wheels” that structure the project around the key dimensions:

Objectives: Defining clear, sustainable ambitions based on regulatory frameworks;

Context: A detailed understanding of the site and its specific environmental, social and economic characteristics;

Design Strategy: Developing and implementing sustainable thematic strategies and designs throughout the project.

Right from the outset, this approach makes it possible to set initial ambitions and gradually adapt them. It also helps us to develop and analyse responsible and ambitious projects, especially in the face of complex challenges, while assessing the risks associated with procedures for optimal project control

The approach is inspired by European and international standards such as the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the European Union’s taxonomy, as well as local standards such as GRO. It’s also designed to make it easier to achieve various recognised certifications, such as BREEAM, WELL, DGNB, etc. This is a collaborative approach that is constantly evolving, and brings together all those involved in the project – project owners, architects, partners, etc. – to ensure smooth, consistent collaboration.

Its purpose is to effectively integrate the various project stakeholders throughout the process.

By combining innovation, sustainability and excellence, our approach is in line with assar’s vision of building a responsible and inclusive future.
